My hubby is an exceptionally talented man. He's always been creative; he loves to draw and make things. When he retired from paid work and started working on building he also started exploring blackmithing as he'd always wanted to make knifes. With practice he's made some exceptional blades.
One of my brother-in-laws made himself a sea kayak. It's a beautiful boat; glides well on the water and looks amazing! Anyway, my hubby decided that he would make a sea-worthy knife for my brother-in-law for his 30th. The knife is made with a bronze blade, bone handle and carved wooden sheath. I love this little knife and think it is amazing that he made it all from recycled materials.
My hubby set up a forge which has been made from recycled materials and, while limited to working with smaller pieces of steel, is pretty effective. It runs on charcoal which he makes himself from the pieces of firewood that are not suitable for the fireplace (i.e. those that have a branch or, due to the direction of the grain, refuse to split).
